It is not an easy job to deal with ginseng. This sophisticated plant requires high maintenance. First, it must be grown in the shade of a natural forest setting. Then, it takes 4 to 5 years to mature, and finally after the harvest, it needs to be washed, dried, and pruned. There are more than 10 procedures after the harvest, and any deviation in any section will reduce the quality significantly.
Their specialization is in the name; the World Ginseng Center knows ginseng. This business started in the 1980s. It is the partner of the World Ginseng Center doing planting research in Wisconsin. They have recruited local farmers to plant more than 200 acres of ginseng fields and care for them. The result is fruitful, they receive favorable reviews for each harvest, and the branches are scattered around the bay.
The owner, Ms. Wang, is very kind and knowledgeable. Ms. Wang is a hard working woman over the age of 70, but you would never know! She jokes about her age with loyal customers, and she insists that her unwillingness to do housework has kept her around. Everyday, she opens the store at 11 am sharp. There is always a prepared pot of ginseng tea waiting for her returning and new customers. Next time you are looking for some gift ideas or want some supplements for yourself check out the World Ginseng Center.
